Add Matt O’Connor to the mix.
O’Connor, a 23-year-old Toronto native, has backstopped the Boston University squad for the past three seasons in the NCAA’s super-competitive Hockey East conference.
A report on Wednesday from TSN’s Darren Dreger ties the Canucks – and 13 other NHL teams – to the college free agent.
The team currently has five goalies under contract: Ryan Miller, Eddie Lack, Jacob Markstrom, Joacim Eriksson and Cannata. The latter trio are set to be restricted free agents this summer. Demko, of course, is in his second season with Boston College and isn’t likely to be signed for at least another season or two.
Like pitchers in baseball, goalie prospects are voodoo and you can never have too many on your radar.
